</p><p>Your favor of Nov 9th, (received during the early stage of protracted indisposition, from which I am but just now recovering,) has been fully considered.
</p><p>I informed you verbally, shortly after the receipt of your letter, that I was awaiting certain information upon the subject of clothing our troops. That information I have received, and now notify you, that the state will continue to supply her troops with clothing, and horse equipments. The state Quarter-master General has been instructed to purchase such supplies, and has already made purchases upon terms most

<p>advantageous to the troops; and favorable to the United States.
</p><p>I avail myself of the right conferred by Act of Congress upon each state, to furnish such supplies, because I think this state can better provide for her troops. That you would do your duty in such service I have no doubt, yet our state Quarter-master (Genl. John Wood) has become so thoroughly acquainted with the conditions and wants of our scattered regiments; takes so deep an interest in them, and, has so far given such abundant satisfaction to the authorities at Washington, and of this state, in the clothing heretofore furnished, both as to quality and price, as to satisfy me that he ought to be continued in the performance of this duty.

It would be a very desirable thing for us, as our treasury is about exhausted, we have made a great quantity of garments as well as comfortables, and received large donations of same. The express on packages sent cost us $14.00, we would like to avoid such expenses, and save money to buy material for work of society.
