Writes a very earnest letter requesting me to advise you he is very unpleasantly situated in said Company; that he cannot get along under his Capt. John H. Brown; that the men have no confidence in him, that he lacks courage manhood, courtesy and every soldierly quality - that he has tried to relieve himself by resignation & every way in vain, and begs me to appeal to you in his behalf, which I cheerfully do. Lt Ebey is every whit a man and a soldier; he was in service in Washington Territory several months, and commanded on the field of Shiloh in the absence of his captain

</p><p>I offer myself as Quarter Master commissary or inspection of supplies: I have been engaged several years in the meat and provision trade; and feel that I am competent to fill a situation of the kind named. I am 44 years old always well, perfectly temperate and can, <u>come</u> <u>to</u> <u>time</u> I can furnish all necessary recommends if any prospect of an appointment.
</p><p>My oldest son is in the 13th Ill now under Curtis: I furnished

<p>the 13th Wis Regiment while in camp at Janesville last fall so that I have some practical experience as to the wants and requirements of soldiers and Gov't I can arrange my affairs to leave home on short notice; I feel more like going; now that the rebels are to be hurt
