Portrait of the Griggs family, including Clark Robinson Griggs, his wife Leronia, his son Albert, and his daughter Adaline. Clark Robinson Griggs was a veteran of the American Civil War, a member of the Illinois House of Representatives, and mayor of Urbana. Adaline Griggs would later marry John Charles Black, a Union Army Lieutenant Colonel and Brevet-Brigadier General during the American Civil War, who later became a U.S. Congressman of Illinois, and a U.S. District Attorney at Chicago.
