Mrs Eliza A Lowry

Monticello Piatt Co. Ills

My Dear Madam:

I am in receipt of your letter of the 15th instant, and very much regret that I am unable to give you any direct information in regard to your husband. I am informed however, that communication is now open to Nashville and it may be possible for you to go below, although, the very recent movement of General Thomas leaves it in great doubt.

Should you conclude to go or send to Nashville I will be happy to aid you all

in my power and can give you letters that may enable you to proceed without delay.

I tender you my deepest sympathies in your bereaved state.

Very Respectfully

Your Obdt. Servt

Richd Yates
