Dear Sir
I beg leave to solicit the appointment of my brother Josiah H. Bross as commissary for any one of the new regiments about to be accepted by or offered to the Gen. Government from the State of Illinois. As to qualifications, integrity, &c may I remind you of certain recommendations by the leading citizens of Chicago, which I placed in your hands yesterday
