Dear Sir
I went to St Louis a few days ago to see Genl Fremont on the subject of the immediate equipment and supplying with arms of the Illinois Regiments. I recd no definite answer then and ordered our Quarter Master to provide immediately for their equipments -
I have however to day recd a letter from Genl Fremont in which he says he will equip your Regiment immediately & that I will oblige him by ordering you to St Louis immediately.
