Sir. I tried to interest myself as much as I could properly in behalf of our friend Fries. He has presented the letters which you were kind enough to send him & finds that Col's Hecker, Jaquess, and Waters have made other assignments If you can aid him in any way to get a suttership in another Regt. It will be of great benefit to various interests which I know you wish to forward. besides the aid which it will be to a man hwom we all know to be worthy. Pardon me for if I am too pertinacious and believe me
