Governor Richard Yates

Dear Sir

We are informed by the newspapers that another call for Five Hundred Thousand men has been made by the President, and that we may avoid the Draft respectfully ask your Excellency to grant permission to George J. Lucky of this place to raise a company of volunteers for the service if consistent with your views. The applicant is a good loyal man, one who can be depended upon. Please communicate with Geo. J. Lucky Canton Fulton County Ills in reference to the matter and oblige
