Dear Sir being a citizen of your State for 2 years I will take the liberty of calling your attention to my poverty and want the crash of 57 took me under and after paying my indebtedness it leaves me nothing I am trying to farm the best I can and not being accustomed to it I find it these hard times a Slow business I sold goods in Indiana for 20 years and made money but lost it all in the flower & pork trade I am not a drinking or a Gambler nor two lazy to work for my living I want you to


give me a Situation in Some of the various offices that you controll so that by economy I can secure me a cheap home for my family I can give you Refferences to good men that has binn acquainted with me 20 years and if tha dont say that I am worthy of your attention pass me by these men holds important offices at Washigton City let me say to you I want a Situation so I can help my self & Country I find friends in adversity very scarce your early attention to my Situation will be kindly reciprocated enclosed is a Stamp and if you desire I will give you Refferences in regard to my qualifications Honesty
