Sir: Your letter in behalf of Wm Woods, convicted at Calhoun Co Court for Larceny Spring term 1863 is received.

In all cases of this nature it is required that recommendation for pardon must be furnished from the Judge who passed sentence-or the Prosecuting Attorney and a part of the Jury together with certificate of good conduct from Warden of the Penitentiary-I will give the case prompt consideration upon receipt of the foregoing. I am glad to [hear?] such good account from old Hardin as to loyalty of [Madison?]-
