Dear Sir:

I wish to present myself as a candidate for a position in the Army - If consistent with your public duty, i would very greatfully accept an appointment in the commissary department - I was in the three months service as first orderly - I am here in a very strong democratic district, where they make politics a test for qualification in electing company officers, and consequently I stand no chance.
