Dear Governor

The thing is working & I feel confident of success.

I have called in a few particular reliable friends and we have made out lists of names of those who are to be invited to meet tomorrow at 4 oclock P.M. for general private consultation & then I feel sure the work will commence - earnest & I propose to stay until I succeede or fail & fail I will not. At all events things look favorably now. Beckwith (democrat) suggests

that name of John B Turner (democrat) be inserted in [subscription?] in place of [Harnell?] & Ira [Y?] Meen (no party) in place of Ogden - leaving the committee to consist of Scammom, Turner & Meen. I see no objection to this & it may & I think will accomplish the object which Beckwith has of inducing loyal democrats to help. Do you know any objection. If so telegraph me in the morning

Yours Truly
