Sir

Wishing to employ contrabands to work on farm I take the liberty of asking you whether the regulations of the General Government in reference to contrabands being hired in this State are such as to protect those employing them from penalties imposed by the Statute of this State Information on this subject will be gratefully received by many in this vicinity Farmers have over worked themselves & families endeavoring to secure their crops. Subsequent drafts will render labor still more scarse.
