To the Honble William Hunter, Acting Secretary of State, Washington

Sir: We enclose to your care copies of Resolutions adopted at a public meeting of the Citizens of Dublin held this day at the Mansion House under the presidency of the Right Hon. The Lord Mayor.

Permit us to state that the meeting was most numerously and influentially attended, perfectly unanimous in feelings of deep sympathy towards the people of the United States and the widow and family of their late lamented President.

We beg you will have the kindness to present one copy to His Excellency the President, and the other to Mrs. Lincoln, and to assure them that these resolution represent the unanimous feelings of the citizens of Dublin. You will observe by the 3rd Resolution that a copy has been sent to the Hon. Charles Francis Adams United States minister at London.
