Resolution passed in the borough of Preston, in the county of Lancaster.

At a meeting of the council of the said borough, held on the 27th day of April, 1865, present the right worshipful Joseph Isherwood, mayor, in the chair, it was

Unanimously resolved, That this council desire to express their utter abhorrence of the assassination of the President of the United States of America, and to condole and sympathize with the American nation upon the loss they have sustained through the sudden and lamented death of their President.

Given under the common seal of the said borough, the day and year above mentioned.
