I hope to see you this winter if I can get time to come to Springfield. I wrote you some days ago in regard to Commissionship for Clark. When you have positively concluded upon the man you agoing to appoint if you think it proper let me know it as Mr Clark would like to know how the matter stands as soon as possible. In your message give the [secessionists?] h-ll they deserve to be put through. I see Bates goes into the Cabinet that suits me first rate hope the others will be as good men.
