Dear Sir:
I was arrested and imprisoned at Pine Bluff Arkansas on the 9th day of April, One Thousand Eight Hundred and Sixty four. I have enclosed a copy of any charges Specification and sentence I have enlisted as a Veteran in Co "E" 18th Reg Veterans, and do respectfully ask you to do all you can to return me to my respected Co and Reg to serve my country, honestly and faithfuly.

Charges and Specifications against Private Thomas Harlow Co. "E." 18th Ill. Inf. Charge 1st Assault with intent to kill. Specification In this that Thomas Harlow Private Co. "E." 18th Ill. Inf. Vol. did commit an assault upon the person of Ananias Linsey Private-Co. "K." 2nd Ark. inftry of A.D. and did abuse and brutally beat and kick the said Ananias Linsey this at Pine Bluff Ark on or about April 8th 1864. Charge 2nd Insubordinate conduct to the prejudice of good order and military discipline Specification in this that Thomas Harlow Private Co. "E." 18th Ill. Inf. Vol. did commit an assault upon the person of Ananias Linsey Private of Co. "K." 2nd Ark. Inftry of A.D. and did abuse and brutally beat and kick the said Ananias Linsey All this at Pine Bluff Ark on or about April 8th 1864.
