His Excellency Richard Yates

Senator Elect for the State of Illinois

Hurrah for Dick No One Not all the machinations of E B and the Devil could defeat the Will of the People Thank God the People have spoken in tones not to be misunderstood and Washburn has gone back to Washington as the Miserable Tribune says "well satisfied with his work" Yes and the people are as well satisfied as he can be Satisfied that he has been defeated. Satisfied perfectly satisfied that E B Washburn is not to take the place in the Senate designed for no other than Richard Yates Satisfied that Washburn can never reach the position of U S Senator

And the People of McHenry County are satisfied

that C Lansing has sealed his political damnation. Satisfied that he will never have the opportunity again to so grossly misrepresent the will of his constituents.
