Hon. R. Yates

Dear Sir,

The first opening you have, that you think would suit my capacity, if agreeable to you, I should like to have it. My family is again returned to health, and I hope in a condition to allow me to engage in our countries cause, I have had a great anxiety to make myself useful, and hope yet to be able to render some service to my country. I thank you for the kind offer you made me last fall, and have always regretted that I was not able to assume the position.
