My Dear Sir -

We on this side of the State have come to conclusion that this new Loco "Koran," that the Constitutional Convention have present to the people can be defeated - now let the party throughout the State understand, that is our duty to vote on it. The The Loco party are useing their party to carry it - The Soldiers in the field, can defeat the thing - if the matter is fully explained to them, By the Schedule they are allowed to vote for or agt it - but not provision is made for them to vote for officers under it next fall if it is adopted - Let them understand that this priviledge, is only a bid for their votes for it, & the last one of them will vote against it, and this can be easily shown them, because

they are not allowed to vote for officers under it after it is adopted -

We are posting our boys on this point & all others - also on the.102. One horse prosecuting attorney clauses - ? Now would it not be well to have the Soldiers thoroughly posted? Has any steps been taken to post them on the lookout? A report is in circulation that the Legislature is to be caled in a [Short?] This is all right, Provided we have a majority on Joint Ballot but I fear this is not the case, & Provided also only one or two Subjects are in the proclamation.

From what I hear from Washington, my prospects are good - If you can think of any thing that will add to my chance, put in -

Let me hear from you when at Leisure -

Your Friend
