To his excellency Gov. Yates

Dear Sir

You will no doubt Recollect a letter written to you last Oct in my favor by Messrs Atley Edsell & Camp, of Dixon & Signed also by Col Kirk & others. Through the Solicitation of Col Kirk who had some difficulty in making up his Reg after Reaching Camp Butler I consented to take charge of the Post office thereby placing an able bodied man in the Ranks, I have attended to the duties of that office for $13. p mo since I took charge of it until within a few days from the effects of a severe cold I have been compelled to leave Camp & get boarding at a private house near town

The present condition of my lungs forbids my going to Northern Ills Untill a later period in the spring, Now for the favor I want, I wish my wife & seven year old boy to meet me at Louisville that we may visit some Relations on the R.R. thence to Lexington & I have not the Means to Send her to pay her

fare in the R. R from Sterling to Louisville & back to Sterling & if not, an utter impossibility I would humbly ask that you would send her such paper as she may need - I am some eight miles from Camp & probably now thirteen from the 34th & it is not possible to get our Surgeons endorsement of the Statements herein much & must refer you back to the letter as to my Reliability -

I have 3 sons in Mo, one has been a prisoner for Several weeks untill recently he was with Major Bowerd, also a Son in Army in Mo & a Son here who went through the battle bravely on Monday, Sunday night our Reg stood on the street in this town all night waiting for the means of geting up [illegible] & only got there in good time to help Changes the fortunes of Sunday

I hope the Hell hounds will soon be driven to "their own place" - Should my prayer be favorably answered please enclose the passes to Mrs R. P. Robinson Sterling Ills.

Ever Faithfull & truly

R. P. Robinson
