Mr. Governor Yates
I wrote to you to See if you wouldent Send me a pass to come down to Cairo and go and rejoin my Reg Again I was sent home from Fort Donelstan I was wounded their at the Donelstan Battle I am getting so that I can Begin to doe A little duty And I would like to be With my Reg again But I don't feel able to pay my fair Back for I halve not got the Mony to doe it with and if you would Be so kind as to send Me A pass I would hily thankful to you and if you cant send Me A pass I wish that you would just drop me A line
And then I will know what to depend uppon if you will doe so I will be mutch Oblige to you I feel anxious to doe all I can doe I Belong to Co. K 20 Reg Ill Vols. Col Marsh direct to Ottawa Lasalle Co Ill
