Col John Moses Springfield

Dr Sir

I received your dispatch and answered it; what I mean, is, that I am willing to take your Prisoners, as long as I can, if I can do so, and not be liable for any damages; I dont know any thing, about the Law in such cases, I dont know what I am legally authorised to do, or not to do, nor does any body here know. If they come you or the governor please see, that it is all right, and I am justified; I dont suppose there is any danger of any trouble, still it is best to be right. I am willing to do right, if I can be properly advised in the premises;---Please see it is all "Ok"

Yours Truly Saml. K. Casey
