During my connection with the 4" Division of Maj. Gen. Grants Army from Shiloh to Corinth as Division Surgeon; I became well acquainted with Asst Surgeon J.O. Harris and was at the time aware of the fact that about all the duties of the regimental surgeon were thrown upon him, and were well performed. He has shown himself thoroughly capable as a Surgeon and his promotion to that rank would benefit the Service.
