Hon. E. M. Stanton

Sec. of War

Washington D. C.

The Board of Trade and War Committee of Chicago have responded to the call of the Government in men and means, and have by generous bounties induced the formation of three Regiments. They and one of said Regiments very much desire Capt. Geo. B. Hoge, of Co. F. 25th Missouri to take the post of Lieut. Colonel in said Regiment. He is the son of a noble lady of our State who has given near all of her time without charge to the relief of our sick and

wounded. Will you oblige me very much by suffering Capt Hoge to take the place?

Richd Yates

Governor.

See dispatch to J. B. Farwell Chicago in connection with this.
