Allow me to bear my testimony to the merits of Lt. Col. P. Pease of the 49th Ill Infy who is an experienced officer, not only in drill and discipline but in battle.
While I cannot consistently with my views of the public service recommend him or any one to be transferred from an old to a new regiment, yet I am bound to say that Col P. would make a good commander of a regiment.
