Hon Richd Yates

D Sir

Joseph Rodemeyer private in Co A. 57th Regt Ills Vols., was wounded in the arm at the battle of Corinth and is now in Mound City hospital. His brother who is in my employ desires me to endeavor to procure for him a furlough for 8 or 10 days to enable him to come home to this place and visit his father who is (to my knowledge) some 60 years of age and quite unwell and desires to see his son before he enters the service again

Joseph is nearly well of his wound and anxious to return to his regt. but would be thanful for a short furlough for the purpose mentioned about Mr Youngman, our sheriff advised me to apply through you for the furlough any thing you can consistently do will be duly appreciated

Very Respectfully

L.D. Boynton
