My dear Sir
Enclosed please find recommendation of a few in fav of the Promotion of Col. Ducat to Brigadier Gen As you proposed to have me write a Letter recommending his promotion for you to sign. I respectfully suggest that you endorse on the enclosed letter to you & addressed to me, "I am of opinion that he would make a good Brigadier. his services entitle him to promotion; anything you can do for him will be secconded by me" or in such other manner a you choose enclosing to me at New York care Mssrs E Whitehouse son & Morrison. The War Committee
of this City have passed a Resolution in his fav; copy of which I hand] you herein. I shall go to Washington & will do what is in my power.

Resolved
That Lt Col A.C. Ducat was acting Inspector General of the Army of Cumberland, by his conduct in many hard fought Battles & his known ability to command is deserving of promotion to a Brigadier General. we therefor endorse the recommendation of Major General W.S. Rosecrans & ask his Promotion
to the Rank of Brig. General
