To Gov Yates or Gen Fuller

The bearer I M Cooksey visits your place for the purpose of a conference on the condition of things in the section of Country in which he resides You may rely implicitly upon his inteligence & integrity The statements he makes in relation to the state of affairs in his neighborhood I have heard corroborated from a variety of sources. Some of our leading democrats here have become alarmed at the threatning aspect affairs are putting on and I apprehend that if a speedy termination is not put to the treasonable meetings of which he

will refer you trouble will ensue

Mr Cooksey can be trusted to any extent and I would write in recommending him for some position in the Military service of the State or Nation

Your friend

J Gillespie
