John B. Butler, late 1st Lt. Co. G. 41st Ill. Infy received an injury at Vicksburg which made it necessary that he should resign his commission. He is man of intelligence and meritorious service. He wishes to obtain a commission in the Invalid Corps and that Jon and I should recommend.
I hereby heartily do so, and transmit this to you for your concurrence if you shall think proper to give it.
