Dear Sir I am a veteran of the Mexican War, and am, still anxious to do millitary service for the United States; if there is a vacancy in the list of Officers, to Command the Colored regiment now organizing in this St, I should be happy to serv you, and my country, after I have furnished you with good and sufficient evidence of my competency to Command as Captain of a Company. I am at your service to act in that capcity, and will wait for further instructions

Direct to Reynoldsburg Johnson Co. Ill. and be assured of my best exertions
