Dear Sir
I learn on my arrival home that Lieut Swain's resignation has been accepted by Genl Grant. This is the officer you will recollect whos resignation I asked you to forward to the Sect of War the other day. I am informed the 2nd Junr LIeut of the same Co has also resigned. The acceptance when recd can be sent here instead of Vicksburg although I suppose the acceptance of Genl Grant is sufficient. Thanking you for your manifestation of kindness to me I remain
