Governor permit me to bring to your notice Major John N. Niglas Surgeon of the 6th Ills Cavalry who has been in the service as Surgeon of our Regt Since October 1st 1861 he has performed his duties well and Skillfully and by [hard?] Service and exposure impared his health his position has obliged him to report to much younger men and junior Surgeons
Governor if by your influence you could get him a position as Brigade Surgeon you would much oblige your many friends in the 6th Cav and as But Simple Justice to a worthy man Governor hoping you many Break the fangs of all the copperheads in the State of Ills and out live all your enemies I am very Respectfully your Obedient
