I have the honor to send to you a broken Parrott piece captured by the forces under my command at Post Arkansas. The piece was broken by a shot from one of the Guns of one of my batteries. Please accept it on behalf of the noble state you so worthily represent as an humble testimonial of the esteem and admiration of the brave men whose valor wrested it, as a trophy from the enemy.
