To your Exclancy Richard Yates

Dr Sir I have bin in this city about one weak and will return home in about two weaks, the news of the attact on Fort Sumter this morning created grate excitement the Stripes and Stars is floting from Every window and hanging across the Streets, the ball has opened the tail is told, I now am infavor of [illegible] the [wave?] in to africa, I have got tiered of hearing the crye of dont [illegible], Southern rights and Democracy, I was doutfull that Lincoln had Enough of Backbone he now Startes off right if he will hold on I think if he will Show to the trators that he is determand in his corse, the tratiors will back down by degrees, thare is a man in Covington Ky that owes me thirty two thousand &


tweny dollars which I feare is a lost ball tho he sais if will remain heare two weakes he will make my debt safe by mortgages, I will remain to see the result, you need not answer this Letter as I may not recive it, as I will starte home as soon as possible
