Sir.
Will it be possible for me to obtain the situation of nurse. where the Elgin Company may be stationed?
Affection for a brother in that company [anone?] particularly prompts me to take this step, although I look upon all men as brothers in this common cause.
If my strength, and nerve were insufficient for the work, I would not offer my services. My age is twenty four.
