I wish to ascertain the condition of a piece of property, viz 160 acres of land in the city of Peoria- (in the new part of the city) This land was formerly owned by Wm Sullivan, who by his will, bequeathed it to his wife Emma Sullivan for her use during her life-time, it then to pass to his daughtesr Mary and Matilda.

After the death of Mrs Sullivan, the two daughters died before attaining their majority, and the only heirs now to the estate are Elizabeth Morey and Margaret Eastwood the sisters of Wm Sullivan as they claim. I wish to ascertain all I can in regard to the title of the property and particularly as to the claim of the said Elizabeth Morey and Margaret Eastwood. By attending to this you will confer a great favor on me, and it may result advantageously to yourself.

Whereas,

Our Governor in the discharge of his official duties, Regarding the true interests of our State, and its vital relations with the United States, has shown himself not only ready to encourage and assist all good & loyal measures which would conduce to the best interest of our State & nation in the ordinary methods, but has developed a capacity fully equal to the emergencies of this present crisis.

That each State owes to the National Union its life, prosperity, rescources, wealth, happiness & honor abroad, and we hold in abhorance all schemes of disunion from whatever source they may come,

That we fully endorse the action of Gov Yates in prorogueing the late Legislature, beleiving with him that no good could result from their further continuance, but only Evil. And we sincerely thank the "Almighty Providence" for giving us a Governor, with a Heart warm enough, a head clear enough & a backbone strong enough, to feel & know & resolve what to do in a Crisis like this, And

Resolved further, "That we will" stand by Gov Yates in every laudable endeavour to protect from infamy the proud position which our State has, voluntarily taken in the mighty strugle now raging, That we pledge him our support, to his support of the war measures of the Government, and also his humane, noble, & self sacreficeing efforts in behalf of our brave Soldiers in the Army.
