I am happy to say that so far as I am advised there is but one voice in this part of the state in relation to the Senatorship. Our member, Mr. Mann, is my warm personal friend and is all right. I have not yet met with Sedgewick the member from Dupage but expect to see him on my return to Naperville tomorrow. Among the people who were at court there the past week I found the sentiment universal in your favor and I have no doubt he is for you. I held court in McHenry County a few weeks ago, and was glad to find that Joslyn was right. I had feared that the failure of this brother to obtain the colonelcy of the 141st might have made him hostile. I had a full conversation with him and he assured me he should support you heartily.

I have not seen Gen Fuller, but take it for

Your favors I found last evening on my return from my Naperville Court. Will see that the speeches are duly distributed.

I have not seen Gen Fuller, but take it for

granted he is for you.

With congratulations on your flattering prospects, and asking you to advise me if any contingency should arise in which I can be of service, I remain

Very truly
Your Friend

I am ashamed to trouble you so often but since I saw you a matter has been presented to me in which I take a lively personal interest. It has been suggested to me that Lieut. Col. Laughlin 94th Ill Inf Vol. for meritorious service deserves a Brevet commission. The Col commanded the advance against Ft Morgan and so skillfully and carefully that not one man was lost in making the approaches to that Fort. I know him to be a high minded gentleman and an honorable man and well meriting any mark of respect the government may give him. Have you any influence that could be made available in his case and if you have will you exert it in his behalf? Any thing you can do for the Col will be appreciated and most gladly reciprocated by Your friend & humble servant

H. Noble

Please let me know if the above project is feasible. If it is I verry much desire to see it accomplished. H N

Dear sir

Letters by H. Noble

Col Niles --

Answer why Lt. Col has not been commissioned Col under my order? Also what does he mean by Brevet Commision -- Answer this forenoon & send to Govs House. Return this

Dear Sir

Be kind enough
to advise me - as far as you know - if Surgeon's
Services are required among Illinois troops
in the Army or in Hospitals in the South.

My health is not very good & I desire
to spend the winter at least in the south.
I would prefer being in the Hospital.

Is there a want of Surgeons
in Nashville, Tenn or in Vicksburg, Miss
in & about Washington D C.?

On receipt of this will
you advise me?

You probably may not
remember me - but I will furnish you
abundant Evidence of loyalty &c

Mr Bromwell as Representative Elect [Dr F?]
Blades the Elector for this district Mr. Wood
and State Representative or [illegible] Bross Liet G.
Elect. I wish to go south on account of [impaired?]
health & I would be of service to the Government
if I could - my I hear from you soon?

over

There are Several Mechanics here
willing to do service for the Government -
if they can get a place to suit some
carpenters and some Blacksmiths good
men - will you also advise
me if they may be employed & [they?] think
of going to Nashville Tenne

I remain

Respectfully &c

to duty by yourself as medical examiner
for Iroquois Co in this state when the
Enrollment was ordered by the State authority
two years since

He desires to go some
point where climate is
more congenial to his delicate state of health &c

Wants to know if Surgeons
are employed in Hospitals
& if there are any vacancies
would prefer Nashville

are needed in any Opt
of the Army--

Dear Sir

Be kind enough
to advise me - as far as you know - if Surgeon's
Services are required among Illinois troops
in the Army or in Hospitals in the South.

My health is not very good & I desire
to spend the winter at least in the south.
I would prefer being in the Hospital.

Is there a want of Surgeons
in Nashville, Tenn or in Vicksburg, Miss
in & about Washington D C.?

On receipt of this will
you advise me?

You probably may not
remember me - but I will furnish you
abundant Evidence of loyalty &c

Mr Bromwell as Representative Elect [Dr F?]
Blades the Elector for this district Mr. Wood
and State Representative or [illegible] Bross Liet G.
Elect. I wish to go south on account of [impaired?]
health & I would be of service to the Government
if I could - my I hear from you soon?

over

There are Several Mechanics here
willing to do service for the Government -
if they can get a place to suit some
carpenters and some Blacksmiths good
men - will you also advise
me if they may be employed & [they?] think
of going to Nashville Tenne

I remain

Respectfully &c

L. T. Hewins M. D.

to duty by yourself as medical examiner
for Iroquois Co in this state when the
Enrollment was ordered by the State authority
two years since

point where climate is
more congenial to his delicate state of health &c

Wants to know if Surgeons
are employed in Hospitals
& if there are any vacancies

are needed in any Opt
of the Army--
