I understand that Hiatt as Provost Marshall sent over [into?] <hr /> this county a few men to take a couple of Horses alledgedly a soldier at Keokuk to belong to him and that the men under his order [illegible] on Keokuk took the horses in the day time and in accordance with their order and took them to Keokuk These are about the facts on which our Grand Jury find a Bill of Indictment against Mr Hiatt for Highway Robbery. I write in order that you may be advised of the matter and not surprised by the application.
