Dear Sir

Understanding that you have the appointment of an Instructor for each of the ten Regiments to be organized in this state by virtue of the late Act, of the Legislature, I take the liberty to address you in behalf of Capt. John Bryner of this City for the position of Instructor of the Regiment that is to Rendesvous at this place.

Capt. Bryner is a high toned honorable gentleman. Ex Sheriff of Peoria County and is a millitary man of many years experience. And I believe fully competent to the Position.
