Hon. Rich'd Yates;

Governor of Illinois:

Sir - I have written to inquire as to the acceptance of a Regiment, composed of companies from Mason and the adjoining counties. Many of the companies are now partially made up and their organization can be readily completed within twenty days after notification from your excellency that their services will be accepted.

My own company will be ready to move almost immediately after orders are received to that effect. We would prefer, however, to be allowed to make up our Regiment in this vicinity if agreeable to yourself. It can be done speedily. Any information in refference to the foregoing will be thankfully received - in other words "we anxiously await orders."

Very Respectfully,

R. S. Moore
