Governor

Owing to sickness in my family I was compeled to return home last night. I come with full assurance in my own mind that your election to the U. S. Senate was certain - and I shall await with much anxiety for the result. Still I am sure the wish of the great mass of the people of our State will be carried out. My wishes are not Govermnents - so I in obedience to orders must return to New Orleans next week.
