Gov. Richd Yates

Dr Sir. On Friday last I sent you a petition for Notary Public for John P. Olinger At the same time resigning my commission in case he is appointed my successor issued Sept. 19/64 for town of North Chicago, but I trust you will be able to commission him for either Cook Co. City of Chicago or town of South Chicago, as he much prefers a Com. for one of the latter places. The petition for Olinger is headed by Hon. J. H. Woodworth. And I sincerely trust you will act upon it before expiration of your term of office as Gov. Please pardon me for intruding upon your time, when your time must be preoccupied, but Mr. Olinger

is very anxious that you should commission him and he is one of your sincere admirers and supporters. This must be my excuse for intruding upon you at this time.

Allow me to present my congratulations upon your nomination to the U S Senate in Republican Caucus.

Send Commission for Mr. Olinger to me direct & greatly oblige your
