Mr. Richard Yates, Governor of Illinois Dear Sir I take my [illegible] to inform you that I have enlisted to go to war and am oweing twenty five dollars and cant go until that is payed and I cant raise the money just now. I have a good crop of corn but corn is selling at ten cents and new corn they won't buy and if you would please to lend me 25 dollars untill the 25 of December I will have the money sent to you and ten per cent interest. My brother has gone to war he is in Missouri and if you will accommodate me I will start in a few days. Please to write as soon as you get this without fail. Yours in haste Joshua Hellor
