Trenton Ills April 4th 1862

To his Excellency Richard Yates Governor of the State of Illinois

Honored Sir

I write you to ask of you the favor that you use your influence with the War Department at Washington to have me appointed acting Brigade Surgeon (pro temp) for the Kentucky Brigade now forming at Jonsboro Ills of which my Regiment the 62d forms a part. As soon as I can make the necessary arrangements, if I can get the position?---I will report myself at Washington for Examination. If you would do me the favor to write in my behalf and get me appointed, I have no doubt I would get the Situation. I have spent a great deal of time and money in behalf of the Union since the War broke out and think I am as much entitled to regad as any on who may get the appointment.

However you may decide, I shal always remain with great respect Your obedient humble Servant

Chas. L. Wundt Surg of the 62d
