My very dear Governor:

It gives me the greatest pleasure to acknowledge the receipt of your letter. I will reply at length in a few days and will now only express my gratitude and delight.

Col. Salomon goes to Springfield on business connected with his Regt. I am particularly desirous that Col. S. should have all the Kind assistance which you can possibly render him to accomplish the object of his visit. I take a particular interest not only in the 82d but particularly in Col S. personally, he is a brave and efficient officer and has much political influence in this city, and beg most urgently to recommend him to your consideration. - More anon.

Your friend
