Rooms Military Commission, No. 19 Madison Street, 3d Floor, Memphis, Tenn., May 11th 1864.

Hon. Richard Yates. Gov. of Illinois. Springfield

My dear sir,

Will it not be possible to have me chosen as a delegate to the Baltimore Convention from our District? I shall not be able to attend in person, but I wish to have the prestige of being chosen - The proxy I will place in your hands to be given to whoever you may select. If it is practicable to bring this matter about it will be of material service to me, and I trust you will be able to effect it.

I shall be glad to hear from you at your earliest convenience

Very Truly,

Your obedient servant. C. H. Adams Lt. Col. 1st Ills. Lt Arty
